Motorola plans to launch its Android 2.0 smartphone called Milestone in Germany, followed by Italy. The Milestone is another name for the Motorola Droid, which is exclusively marketed by Verizon Wireless in the US. Droid by Motorola offers a 3.7-inch, high-resolution screen and Qwerty keyboard and is a location-aware, over-the-air updating and multi-tasking phone. The Droid features a multi-window HTML browser and users can access the internet at 3G speeds or via Wi-Fi. Other features include a 5 megapixel camera with a dual-LED flash, auto focus and image stabilisation; voice-activated search with Google Search; and Google Maps Navigation, providing turn-by-turn voice guidance as a free feature of Google Maps. In Germany, Milestone will be sold by O2 Germany, Vodafone Germany and the Phone House. The website of O2 claims that the phone will be available from 9 November and offers customers the possibility to register their interest.
